This is the first printing of the Hamden SP booklets. The size is 4 x 6 inches and contains 24 pages. It has a black cover with silver ink.
The First Hamden SP booklet is not dated. However the Second Printing dates it to April 1944 (See Image 4 which shows the page from the second printing).
I have not seen any First Printing SP booklets in any cover color other than black with silver ink.
The first portion of the booklet consists of knife fighting techniques. The second half gives descriptions of 10 different knife "Styles" (models) and pictures of 7.
Some of the styles are only referred to with the style number. They are Style 1, Style 2, Style 3, Style 6 and Style 7. The other styles have names as well: Style 4= "New Guinea Brush Knife", Style 5="Navy Knife", Style 8="Paratrooper Knife", Style 9="Marine Knife" and Style 10="Floating Knife".
THE CONDITION OF THE ORIGINAL AUCTION "NEAR MINT" IS WRONG. THE CORRECT CONDITION IS SHOWN BELOW.
Condition: Very Good. There are a couple of dents in the cover. There are dogeared corners on the cover and first 8 pages. There is some light staining on the first and last inside pages from the dark cover. The staples holding the book together are rusty.
